Booking Through Thursday 9/3

Booking Through ThursdayIt’s that time of week again when Booking Through Thursday asks about a recent book you’ve read. This week’s question is “What’s the biggest book you’ve read recently?”.

You could either answer this question by length or by popularity. I’ve been working on my A to Z List and have just been reading random books I’ve found so the popularity question is kind of void for me.

I looked through a couple of books to see what my longest read has been and while Dracula took me longest to read, Son of a Witch was the longest book.  It was 407 pages.

Maybe length isn’t my thing. I didn’t really like this book. I only gave it 2 bookmarks. Click here to read my review.

Booking Through ThursdayToday’s Booking Through Thursday topic: What’s the lightest, most “fluff” kind of book you’ve read recently?

I read a lot of fluff books, but the one I’ll put on here is:

Naughty Neighbor

There was one little mystery in this book, but it didn’t take long for it to come out, and it was about a pig. The only heavy action after that was in the bedroom. There was a lot of lovin’ in this book. It was an easy, light read.

Booking Through Thursday This week’s Booking Through Thursday question asks “What’s the best book you’ve read recently?”.

I have read a lot of good books lately, so I had a hard time choosing this one. The last book I gave 5 bookmarks too was Twelve Sharp. But I haven’t read that since April, so I’m going to do this scientifically.

Twelve Sharp

The last book I read that got 4 bookmarks is Plum Spookyby Janet Evanovich.

This is the 4th “Between the Numbers” book in the Stephanie Plum series. I haven’t been too huge of a fan of the other “Between the Numbers” books because they have more a of a sci-fi feel that I like. I love this series because it could be real. It pushes the limits to reality, but in the crazy world we live in, it could happen to a very unlucky woman. 🙂 These have taken away from that … until Plum Spooky.

This book had GREAT characters and some classic quotes. It was an easy read and I really liked it.

Booking Through Thursday 8/13

Booking Through Thursday Booking Through Thursday asks a question each week. I just ran across the site and since I’m trying to blog a little more during the middle of my books, might as well start with this weekly post.

This week’s question: What’s the worst book you’ve read recently?

It’s been a while since I read it, but I’m going to have to say the first one that comes to mind that I just didn’t like was Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke. I’d read two other Palahniuk books and loved them. I knew that they pushed the limits, but Choke just left me in awe and feeling a little dirty.

This is from the back of the book: “Victor Mancini, a medical-school dropout, is an antihero for our deranged times. Needing to pay elder care for his mother, Victor has devised an ingenious scam: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be “saved” by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor’s life, go on to send checks to support him. When he’s not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park.”

Maybe I should have realized what I was getting into when I read the back of this.

Have you read it? How did you feel about it?
